High-tech and history in one line:
Export diesel locomotive makes test drive at the Museum Steam Tram.
Even before the start of the driving season of the Museum Steam Tram Hoorn-Medemblik a Bemo Rail–built diesel engine locomotive is tested extensively. This is intended for export to Dubai. The four-axle diesel locomotive type BRD 150 is, with its 56 tons obliging mass and an engine power of 480 kW, a lot heavier than the steam and diesel locomotives, which the Museum Steam Tram features. For Bemo itself the almost 11-meter long vehicle is the greatest ever built before. The drive is hydrostatic, which guarantees a continuous regulation and a high starting torque, coupled with optimum user comfort for the operator.
Visitors are welcome to come and see the locomotive on Tuesday, February 23 from 12:00 to 16:00.
