Rail Technology

Bemo Rail has over 50 years of experience in the development, assembly, sales and maintenance of high-quality crane tracks and rail systems. We provide our customers in various industries with advice, services and rail products.

Shunting vehicles for heavy industry

Shunting locomotives, or shunters, are mainly used by companies that have their own on-site rail logistics systems. Bemo Rail designs and manufactures bespoke shunters from scratch at its facilities in the Netherlands, combining and tailoring standard components to customer-specific needs and requirements. This modular approach to construction makes it possible to deliver any combination of capacities, speeds and pulling forces.

Bemo Rail shunters are used predominantly in heavy industry, on storage and transhipment sites, at rail and metro depots and workshops.

In-house engineering and workshop for bespoke shunting vehicles

Bemo Rail designs and manufactures rail shunters in-house, employing a highly skilled workforce and integrating only the best quality materials and components. Right from the very first pencil stroke for a new design to the delivery of a brand new locomotive we focus on safety, ergonomics and sustainability. With our well-equipped workshop and an industry-savvy engineering department, anything is possible at Bemo Rail.

Hydrostatic, hydrodynamic, electrical, battery-electric or hybrid drive for shunting locomotives

Bemo Rail shunting locomotives are powered by any kind of propulsion system: engines with hydrostatic, hydrodynamic or electrical drive, by battery-electric or hybrid drive. The vehicles can be operated manually or by remote control. Conveniently positioned, ergonomically designed control panels, easy cabin access for operators and maintenance engineers and an unobstructed, 360-degree field of vision from the cab ensure superior shunting safety.

All Bemo Rail shunting locomotives are designed using state-of-the-art technology and in compliance with current EU/UIC legislation and regulations.
